James Archer, AIA, NCARB, is an architect, architectural illustrator and professor. Since joining the FAU/SOA faculty at its inception he has taught courses in design studio, design drawing and communication with a focus on encouraging student’s awareness of drawing as an act of design where composition and concept remain principle devices for developing coherence in creative works.

He earned a professional degree in architecture from the University of Miami and maintains a private practice in South Florida and Colorado grounded in a contemporary architecture responsive to context, climate and purpose.
