Lower Division Pre-Architecture Program

Florida Atlantic University’s School of Architecture offers lower division foundational courses on the Boca Raton campus. These courses are required for admission to the Bachelor’s of Architecture program at FAU. Students will be able to complete their general education along with their architecture courses on one campus. After completion of these courses and acceptance into the School of Architecture’s Upper Division, all architecture courses will be taught on the Downtown Fort Lauderdale campus. This is a limited access program, the entry points are at Design 1 and Design 5 or higher. In order to enter into Design 1, potential students must complete the School of Architecture Lower Division Application in addition to the university application.  This requirement is common for all undergraduate professional degree programs in the United States.

Please note, the program will take five (5) years from when the student begins Design 1.

Dual Enrollment Option

The School of Architecture’s foundational courses on the Boca Raton campus have limited availability. If there is no space available in the FAU architecture program at the lower division, students have the option to dual enroll at a local college. Please consult the College Advisor, Chandra McKinney Clarke (cmckinney@fau.edu) for further information about required courses.

NOTE: Please be aware that if the design sequence is started at one of these institutions, then it has to be completed there. Students are not allowed to transfer any Pre-Architecture courses from another institution in order to complete the Pre-Architecture program at FAU.
